Formed in 1992, Zarett Properties represents David Zarett’s remarkable success as a real estate developer. David Zarett has renovated and converted two of Seattle’s most prominent turn-of-the-century buildings, the Diamond Ice & Storage Company plant and the Cobalt Building, into elegant retail, creative, and commercial spaces. Drawn to the two structures for their historic value, David Zarett purchased both the Cobalt Building and the Diamond Ice plant in 1997, after five years of working with early 19th century buildings in Seattle’s Pioneer Square and Capitol Hill districts. Starbucks Corporation, The Cobalt Group, and other tenants moved into the Diamond Ice building three years after David Zarett began work on the structure. In 2007, David Zarett sold the Cobalt Building to UCM/FPI-Cobalt LLC for $20 million. David Zarett graduated from Southern Oregon State University in Ashland, Oregon. A business major, David Zarett participated in the university’s rock climbing club and travel and music appreciation societies. Before he formed Zarett Properties, David Zarett was a commercial real estate broker in Los Angeles. Recently, David Zarett has shifted his focus to sustainable design, in line with the environmentally conscious atmosphere of the Pacific Northwest. David Zarett also takes time to support a number of nonprofits, including Camp Korey, the Boys and Girls Club, the Red Cross, and United Way of King County. David Zarett has also been involved with Hurricane relief in Louisiana. A myriad of hobbies round out David Zarett’s active lifestyle.
